Review #13 - TSD Lounge Prawn Bunny Special

It seems that everyone is going crazy for prawn bunnies these last few years.  When TSD lounge started advertising their prawn bunnies with prawns overflowing out of it , people where losing their minds.

All people who know me to be a bunny chow fanatic and critic, always used to ask me if I tried the prawn bunny.  My response was always no (except for that one time I chowed a prawn and mutton combo bunny at N5). When they asked me why, I always told them that I wasn't going to spend so much money on a bunny.  In addition, how can you eat anything but a classic mutton bunny.

So this year (2025) when TSD started advertising their Thursday special being a Prawn Bunny for R100, I couldnt resist.  Some of my colleagues from work and I decided to go and see what this 100 rand prawn bunny was all about. I was so excited about chowing this bunny that I couldn't even concentrate on work that day.

When we got to TSD , we took a table at the function venue part of the restaurant as it was empty. Everyone ordered the prawn bunny special except for one colleague who ate this prawn bunny here before. She wanted to sample the mutton.

The food was delivered to our table in under 10 minutes- you can't beat TSD for fast service.

Dear readers , this is what food porn looks like. Now, let's talk about the taste.

First things first, I had to chow the virgin. Made sure that thing was soaked with gravy nicely before I took a bite.  That first bite felt like heaven. It felt like time stood still. All those flavours slowly melting away on my tongue. Let alone I had'nt even bit into a prawn as yet , and this thing was tasting so lukker.

Next bite I had to chow a prawn and looked for the biggest one on top.  The prawn was cooked perfectly, soft and buttery.  Loving every moment of each chew.  The gravy was over real. Reminded me of the Sea Belle glory days.

I had to eat this bunny as slow as possible, so to enjoy every single bite.  I counted around 12 various size prawns in that bunny.  Gravy right to the bottom of the bunny even though these ous didn't dig the bunny deep enough.

So R100 for this lovely prawn bunny, it was worth more than the price.

So this is my verdict out of 10:

Service : 8

Quality and quantity of prawns : 9

Taste : 8.5

Size of bunny : 10/10 ( correct size quarter)

My overall rating of this bunny is a 9/10.

Final verdict: There was no flops with this bunny.  Everything was lovely including the salad.  Value for money - you not going to get a prawn bunny anywhere else in Durban or the entire world for R100.
